Balancing Health Care with Living Independently
As people age, or suffers an illness or serious injury, it can be difficult to rely on others to assist in them in doing things they have always done themselves. The challenge for patients and heir families is to find available resources that will balance their independence so they can continue enjoying their way of life – including things like shopping, making social visits, attending religious services, and living independently.
“Health care needs are getting more complex at a time when people increasingly want to stay in their homes, “says John K. Lloyd, president of Meridian Health. “People are living longer and more independently, and with baby boomers reaching retirement age, the need for new solutions to support aging adult health care needs in their homes is more important than ever. Meridian At Home provides Central New Jersey with a single, trusted resource for their health care needs, whatever they may be.”
Long respected as an innovator in home care solutions, Meridian Health was the only health care system in the nation asked to participate in the 2005 White House Conference on Aging, a congressionally mandated forum held once every decade for the development of aging policies in the United States.
